Nicole, land worker and self-taught maker of things, works in collaboration with communal spaces, nature and their vast, interconnected network of friends. Their work is process-oriented and disinterested in refinement, infusing their near-decade long experience of relating to the more-than-human world via small-scale organic farming into their practice. Their work and research explores ideas of intergenerational knowledge, multispecies collaborations, deep ecology and food/land justice. They are a recipient of both Canada Council for the Arts and Canada Graduate Research Scholarship (SSHRC) funding for projects that merge their art and land practice; their current research-creation project (Screen Cultures and Curatorial Studies, Queens University) aims to revitalize the countercultural conception of networks through a politically activated, bio-regional print publication for land workers and land lovers. They recently deepened their commitment to interdisciplinarity as a student of the Center for Deep Listening Rensselaer, NY, the listening, movement and dreaming modalities of Pauline Oliveros, Heloise Gold and IONE becoming integral to their creative world.
